Michael “Jake” Dean Jacobson

NEW ULM–Michael “Jake” Dean Jacobson, age 70, of New Ulm, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at his home. A private service will be held in his honor. To share condolences with the family or sign the guestbook, please visit [www.mvfh.org]www.mvfh.org.

Mike is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maria Jacobson; his sisters, Patty Jacobson, Emilee Jacobson, and Vicki Scott; his brother, Thomas (Rhodella) Jacobson; and his extended family, including sisters-in-law, Rita Kitzberger, Martha Kitzberger, and Andrea Kitzberger Stelljes; brother-in-law, Franz Kitzberger. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

He is preceded in death by parents, Clayton and Clarize Jacobson; his beloved son, Samuel Jacobson; his sister, Cathy (Randy) Miller; his brother, Dennis Jacobson; brothers-in-law, Paul Kitzberger, Reed Stelljes, Peter Kitzberger, and Joel Dahlgren; sister-in-law, Rhonda K. Dahlgren; and nephew, Josh Bartells.

Mike was born on February 7, 1954, in San Diego, California, to Clayton and Clarize (Traurig) Jacobson. After graduating from New Ulm Public High School in 1973, he began a career as an electrical technician at 3M, where he worked until his retirement in 2012.

On March 17, 1979, Mike married Maria Therese Kitzberger, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

Mike had a passion for music, auto mechanics and electronics, especially stereo systems, and spent much of his free time bicycling and traveling. His adventurous spirit led him to explore destinations such as Australia, Europe, Jamaica, and both coasts of the United States. He also had a great love for dogs and you would often see him with a canine companion by his side.

He will be deeply missed, but his memory will remain a blessing to his family and friends.
