Bill was born on November 6, 1945 to George Sr. & Anna (Guldan) Trautmiller. He married Cathy Roesch on September 10, 1966, in New Ulm.

Bill is survived by his wife, Cathy; daughters, Julie (Dan) Kurth and Sue Sullivan; grandchildren, Allison (Robert) Santaella, Erin (Ben) Hansen, Colin Rubie, and Amber and Keira Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Albie, Hudson, Kinsley, Drake, Baylor, and Maverick William; sisters, Lois (the late, Roger) Currier, Mary Jane (Bob) Kamm, Ruth, and Carol; in-laws, Tom (Jackie) Roesch, Terri (Harold) Willis, Kris (Ken) Prine, and Ann (Jason) Fantz; and by many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Rich and Geri Roesch; brothers, George Jr., Fred, and Tom; sisters, Annie and Alice; son-in-law, Bob Rubie; and two great-grandsons, Bennett and Cayden.

Bill was a lifelong resident of “Goosetown” and a proud member of the New Ulm Fire Department, Goosetown Company #3, for 22 years. His working career began with Glaser Painting, various carpentry companies, and ended self-employed as a carpenter/handyman. Bill was happiest when he was outdoors; hunting, working in his garden, cutting wood, or spending time with his buddies at “Bill’s Underpass Bar and Grill”, and being Grandpa Bill. He made friends wherever he went, many who became like “family”, as it was easy for him to strike up conversation and then find something in common. In addition, he loved his dogs, as there usually was one of his dear lab companions by his side wherever he went.

Bill was on hospice for 18 months. The special hospice nurses, the nurses and doctors at NUMC helped him through some tough times. The family is grateful for their help.
