NEW ULM­­–Carla Jean Postel, age 73 of New Ulm died peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm. Carla is survived by her daughters, Miranda (Brian Hoffmann) Postel of New Ulm, Carissa (Joseph) Niehoff of New Ulm; her son, Brandon (Cassandra) Postel of New Ulm; her grandchildren, Luke and Ava Niehoff; her brothers, William Isackson, Lyle (Geraldine) Isackson; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Michael “Mike” Postel in July of 2024; her sister, Lucille Schroeder; her brothers, Edwin and Leonard Isackson; and her son-in-law, Ricky Rost.

Carla Jean Isackson was born June 21, 1951, in New Ulm to Roy and Irene (Pagenkopf) Isackson. She attended grade school at St. Paul’s Lutheran school in New Ulm, and later attended New Ulm Public High School. Carla was united in marriage to Michael “Mike” Postel on April 8, 1977, in Essig. This union blessed the couple with two daughters and a son whom together they raised in New Ulm. Early in life, Carla worked at 3M as well as the Holiday Inn in New Ulm, but later worked from home raising her family as a loving mother and home-maker. Carla was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. In life, Carla always loved finding a good deal out shopping. She also enjoyed trying her luck on a good trip to the casino with her family. Of all things in her life, her family always brought her the most joy. Carla will forever be remembered for her strong will, but caring and generous heart. Her love for life and cheerful personality will be missed by many. May her memory forever stay in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved her.
