Burnell “Nellie” Steinbach
Burnell “Nellie” Steinbach, age 86, died Saturday, December 28, 2024 surrounded by her family at the New Ulm Medical Center.
A private family service will be held with burial in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.

Nellie is survived by her daughter, Tracy (Patrick) Denn of New Ulm; sons, Tim (Marsha) Steinbach of Chaska, Tom (Marie Hort) Steinbach of New Ulm, Terry (Mary) Steinbach of Rogers; grandchildren, Kali (Brandon Geiger) Denn, Brittany (Logan) LeBert, Gerren and Colin Steinbach, Joey (Adrian) Steinbach, Jill (Ben) Michael, Lucas (fiancé Christine Bracke) Steinbach, Jake Steinbach; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, LaVon Whalen; sister-in-law, Luverne Meyer; brother, Roger (Mona) Meyer; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd; brother, Jim Meyer.
Burnell Dorothy Meyer was born August 1, 1938 in Courtland to Raymond and Lydia (Dauleg) Meyer. She attended and graduated from New Ulm High School. On March 1, 1958 Burnell was united in marriage to Lloyd Steinbach at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. The couple was blessed with 3 sons and 1 daughter, whom together they raised in New Ulm. Nellie worked as a cook in the New Ulm High School cafeteria and then at Cashwise, until Covid, when she retired. Nellie was involved in the Turner ladies, 500 club, the American Legion Auxillary, and was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church in New Ulm. She enjoyed gardening, watching professional sports, watching her children and grandchildren play sports, and family gatherings for holidays with her sauerkraut and german potato salad. Many memories were made and will always live on in those who loved her. She will be dearly missed. Blessed be her memory.
