NEW ULM–Mary Ann Grundmeyer, age 84, of New Ulm, died on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at her home. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – SOUTH Chapel in New Ulm. Private burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Morristown, MN. Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Julie (partner, John Kaupa) Hodapp of New Richland; son, Scott Grundmeyer of Mankato; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Jeanie Braun, Becky Factor, and Barb Gilman, all of Le Center, MN; brother, Donnie (Sharon) Gehrke of Randall, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Winton; her parents; son, Tim Grundmeyer; and brothers, Emory, Roger, and David Gehrke.
Mary Ann Gehrke was born on March 15, 1940 in Morristown, MN to Lawrence & Irene (Wiese) Gehrke. She graduated from New Ulm Public High School. Mary Ann furthered her education at the Mankato Area Vocational Technical Institute, earning her nurse’s aide certification in 1985. She was united in marriage to Winton Grundmeyer on January 21, 1961 in New Ulm. Mary Ann started her career as a dietary aide at Union Hospital, and then was employed at Highland Manor and Oak Hills Living Center as a nurse’s aide. She retired in 1985. Mary Ann was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Oak Hills Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and collecting stamps & dolls. Blessed be her memory.
