Donald “Donnie” Klossner

NEW ULM–Donald “Donnie” Klossner, age 89, of New Ulm passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.

Memorial service will be 12 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – South Chapel in New Ulm. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the First Lutheran Cemetery in Lafayette.Visitation will be from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – South Chapel in New Ulm. Donnie is survived by his step-sons, Victor (Brenda) Wilcox, Mark Wilcox (Wendy Thedens), and William Kittleson; ten step-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren; brother, Roger Klossner; special friend, Andra Holtz and his extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Eleanor Klossner; step-grandson, Sean Wilcox; and uncle, Jake Klossner.

Donald Roland Klossner was born July 7, 1935 to Roland and Eleanor (Sackl) Klossner in New Ulm. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1953. After high school, Donnie enlisted in the National Guard, where he served his country from 1955 to 1964. In addition to his military service, he graduated from Mankato VoTech in 1963. Donnie then made a career for himself as an electronic technician, starting in 1963 at Bill’s TV. After 17 years at Bill’s TV, Donnie then worked for a couple years at Brown’s Music, and 16 more years at 3M in New Ulm until he retired in 2001. Outside of work, Donnie was a lifelong musician and inducted in the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame. He composed numerous polka songs and played in many bands over the years, like the Babe Wagner Band and the Six Fat Dutchmen. Donnie’s music, lighthearted humor, and signature laugh will continue to live on with all of us. He will be dearly missed by those that knew him.
