Edward “Eddie” Joseph Rosenstengel, the only son of John and Edith (Sellner) Rosenstengel, was born on June 19, 1943, in Mulligan Township, Brown County. The second oldest of six children, Eddie was raised on the family farm. His early years of education were at a country school, then he went to school in Leavenworth through the 8th grade, and he graduated from Comfrey High School in 1961. While at a polka dance, Eddie met his future bride, Jeanette Stadtherr, and they were united in marriage on June 15, 1966, at St. Willibrord Catholic Church in Gibbon, Minnesota. They were blessed with four children, and they raised their family in Leavenworth in the home his grandparents built.

Throughout his life, Eddie proudly worked on the family farm where he raised crops and dairy cattle. In his younger years, he worked at Stark Creamery and drove milk truck for 15 years. He started his own trucking company, Rosenstengel Trucking LLC, and in addition to hauling livestock with his son and grandson, he built a business that is going strong to this day. Eddie was a collector of John Deere tractors and enjoyed restoration. He loved hunting out west and in Canada, shooting trap, and going to the Sportsmen’s Club. Driving the gator around to keep tabs on what was going on, listening to old time music, and giving tours of the family Century Farm brought him great joy. He was never one to turn down dessert, especially if it was blueberry pie and ice cream.

His faith was important to him and Eddie was a member of Japanese Martyr’s Catholic Church in Leavenworth as well as the Knights of Columbus. He was a man who loved farming, his family, and especially his beloved wife.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jeanette Rosenstengel of Leavenworth; children, Jeff (Sue) Rosenstengel of Springfield, Julie (Eric) Johns of Belview, Joleen (Jason) Seidl of New Ulm, and Jill (Marvin) Misgen of Rochester; grandchildren, Justin Rosenstengel, Katie Helget, Jake Rosenstengel, Kaden Rosenstengel, Kenzie Rosenstengel, Alex Johns, Isaac Johns, Heidi Semanko, Josh Seidl, Megan Seidl, Kyle Seidl, and Matthew Seidl; great-grandson, Theodore Helget; sisters, Rosemary Pankratz, Bernetta Hesse, Doris Moe; and other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Catherine Steffl and Bernice Rosenstengel.

Blessed be his memory.
