NEW ULM–Georgiana Berberich, age 96 of New Ulm died peacefully on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at her home at the Woodstone Senior Living Community in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 11 am on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-South Chapel in New Ulm. Pastor Brian Scoles will officiate, and burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes-South Chapel. Georgiana is survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard; her sister, Virginia Nelson; and her infant brother, Kenneth Dugas.
Georgiana Dugas was born June 9, 1928, in Clements, Minnesota to Alfred and Anna (Klabunde) Dugas. Growing up in rural Clements, Georgiana was baptized and confirmed at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Clements and was a 1946 graduate from Springfield High School. She was united in marriage to Leonard Berberich on July 18, 1949, in New Ulm and the couple soon after started their lives together living in Clements. Georgiana worked a dedicated 25 years with the United States Postal Service at the Clements Post Office from where she retired. Besides her work, there were a variety of hobbies Georgiana enjoyed in life. Her adventurous spirit was shown throughout her travels on countless trips with her husband Leonard over the years. As an avid golfer, Georgiana and Leonard could often times be found enjoying their summers on the golf course. To relax, she always enjoyed sitting down with a good book and to end the afternoon tuning in to Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. To keep her mind sharp, she also loved doing the daily crossword puzzle, and sudoku. What Georgiana will forever be remembered for is her warm and caring heart, her wonderful sense of humor, and her elegant spirit. She was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm. May these memories and countless others forever stay in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved her. Blessed be her memory.
