NEW ULM–Rosemarie Rich, age 85 of New Ulm died peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. A private funeral service will be held at a later date. Rosemarie is survived by her husband, Myron Rich; daughter, Robin (Clifford) Williford; sons, Michael (Ginger) Rich and Steven Rich; grandchildren, Michael Rich Jr. Hannah Rich, Emily Rich, Cory Williford, and Kasey Williford; great grandchildren, Melanie Anne Rich, Carson Michael Rich, Layla Ray Rich, Cayden Williford, and Cora Faye Marie Williford; sister in-law, Patricia (Rich) Suydam.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Gloria (Gene) Femrite, father and mother in-law, James and Edith Rich; brother and sister in-law, Ronald and Donna Rich.
Rosemarie Rich was born March 5, 1939, in Faribault to Leonard Mathiowetz and Arlene (Evers) Ebilsisor. Rosie was a graduate of Sleepy Eye High School. During high school Rosie worked at Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital in Sleepy Eye. After high school Rosie went to Johnson’s Beauty Academy in Mankato, Riverside Hospital school of Nursing in Newport News, VA, and Wayne Community College in Newport for Early Childhood Education. She was united in marriage to Myron Rich on April 02, 1961, at Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. This union blessed the couple with three children. Rosie had a variety of careers after high school. She began her career at Franklin Beauty Shop. Later she worked at Emmanuel Lutheran School for preschool in Hampton, VA, Upjohn Health Care, Newport News, VA, Highland Manor Nursing Home in New Ulm, and Brown County Family Services in New Ulm. Rosie was very active in the community; she was a member at St. John’s Lutheran Church, V.F.W. Isaac-Radl Ladies Auxiliary Post 800, V.F.W. Gallagher-Hansen Ladies Auxiliary- Post 295, New Ulm Humane Society, Oak Hill Auxiliary, Oak Hills Care Center Volunteer, Treasure Haus Volunteer, Mother’s March of Dimes Volunteer, and Meals on Wheels. Rosie enjoyed baking gingerbread cookies, chocolate cookies, and swedish tea rings. In her free time, she loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. Blessed be her memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Brown County Humane Society.
