Arlene (Walter) Huschke

MANKATO–Arlene (Walter) Huschke passed away on 1/10/25 at Ecumen Pathstone Living. Arlene was 77 years old and is now at peace with the Lord. She was a strong woman who fought through many challenges in her life. Arlene always tried to be positive and loved to talk, joke and laugh with others. Her journey in life started on 2/18/47 being born to Cecilia and Nicholas Walter Sr. in Springfield, MN. She was the second youngest of 6 children.

She is preceded in death by her mom and dad, Cecilia and Nicholas Walter Sr. and her oldest brother, Nicholas Walter Jr. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Huiras and brothers Leonard Walter, Andrew Walter and Michael Walter, many nieces and nephews, her son Skip, his wife Lisa and their kids and grandkids.

Arlene grew up in Clements, MN and went to school in Morgan. She married just after high school to Dan Huschke of Morgan. They soon welcomed a son Brian ‘Skip’ Huschke into the world.

Arlene moved to the twin cities and worked for Univac in her early years but then due to health issues was on disability. She lived in Mankato since 1975 and enjoyed the company of many friends and family. She spent many years with Clarence Valiant who was a blessing to her. He helped her with anything she needed from medical appointments, shopping needs, travel to see family and most importantly someone to talk with, joke with and share a special bond. A special thanks to Shad and Paula Coyer, Trish Boeke and Terry Mahlman who visited and helped care for Arlene.

She loved to dance, play the piano, listen to music and visit with people. She had a strong faith and loved the Lord. She adored her grandchildren (Allison, Matthew and Jacob) and most recently 2 great grandchildren (Declan and Kylie). One of her most recent favorite moments was getting in an airplane with her grandson Jacob shortly after he became a pilot.

She enjoyed living at Pathstone her last few years and usually lived up to her nickname, “Giggles.” Her laughter was contagious to those around her. She will always be remembered and missed by those who knew and loved her.

Her funeral is set for 11 a.m. and visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday March 15 at St. Michaels Church in Morgan, MN and graveside service at Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato later that day.
