Margaret Alison Meaney was born on February 24, 1938 to Patrick and Alison (Guthrie) Meaney in Dublin, Ireland. Shortly after, the family relocated to Huddersfield, England and then immigrated to the United States when Marge was nine years old, settling in Brooklyn, New York. She worked at International Nickle for years where she became a shift supervisor. On August 27, 1966, Marge was united in marriage to Jim in New York.
After marriage, the couple relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, where Jim was stationed in the United States Navy. It was there that they began their family. Jim’s military career took them to Douglasville, Georgia, and then to Warminster, Pennsylvania. After Jim retired, one last move brought them to New Ulm in 1978.
After making their home in New Ulm, Marge began working as a paraprofessional with District 88, dedicating over 25 years to supporting students. Even after retiring, she continued to volunteer in the schools, giving her time and energy to the community she loved. Beyond her work in education, Marge was deeply involved in her church, where she taught CCD, helped organize the Fall Festival, along with many other church activities. In her free time, she found joy in reading and cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren.
Marge will be dearly missed by those that knew her. Blessed be her memory.
