Janette Geraldine Compart

Janette Geraldine Compart, age 87 of Nicollet, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Oak Terrace in North Mankato.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nicollet. Pastor Micah Plocher will officiate. Burial will be held at Trinity Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nicollet. Visitation will continue from 1-2 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nicollet.

Livestreaming of the funeral service will begin at 2 pm on Friday, March 21, 2025 on Trinity Nicollet’s Website.

The Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes of New Ulm are assisting the family with arrangements at this time.

Janette is survived by her children, Tim (Su) Compart, Lori (Joe) Bauer, Debra (Dean) Blackshaw; grandchildren, Anne (Tim) Headlee, Kate Overgaard, Eleanor (Paul) Scheman, Rachel (Ryan) Gemlo, Phillip Compart, Jacob (Jenny) Bauer, Amanda (Saxon) Warmka, Ethan Bauer, Courtney (Jared) Reyant, Logan Utzka, Caleb Utzka, Turner Blackshaw; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Genevieve (Robert) Schmit; sisters-in-law, Lily and Barbara Pockrandt, Arlene Compart; many nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gerald; sisters, Rosie (Elmer) Ehnes, Elvira (Virgil) Landgraff, Marilyn (Arden) Black, Phyllis (Bob) Novak; brothers, Ray Pockrandt, Ellsworth (Ragina) Pockrandt, Robert Pockrandt, Marvin (Elaine) Pockrandt.

Janette was born on February 1, 1938, in Gibbon to Fred and Margarete (Wandersee) Pockrandt. She was baptized on February 13, 1938, and confirmed on March 18, 1951, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. She graduated from Gibbon High School in 1956. On November 1, 1958, Janette married the love of her life, Gerald Compart, in Gibbon. This union blessed them with three children.

Janette worked at Gibbon State Bank for two years before dedicating herself to being a homemaker. Later in life, she worked part-time at Schmidt’s Meat Market in Nicollet for over 20 years. Janette also devoted much of her time to volunteering at the Treasure Haus in New Ulm. She was an active member of the Ladies’ Guild, where she served as president twice, and was a member of the church choir for 30 years.

In her free time, Janette enjoyed gardening, baking, biking, walking, birdwatching, and singing. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
