MINNETONKA–Jean R. Kokesch, age 85 of Minnetonka, formerly of New Ulm, died peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at New Perspectives Senior Living in Minnetonka, where she resided for the past nine years.
A funeral service will be at 2pm on Monday, April 7, 2025 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Jeffrey Bovee officiating the service. Burial will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm. Visitation will be held from 12:30-2pm at church prior to the service on Monday. Jean is survived by her daughter, KelliRae (Liguori “Tom”) Sebwe; grandchildren, Matthew Temael, Zephyrus Sebwe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Helena Freyholtz; husband, George Kokesch; daughter, Kimberly Temael; sisters, Delores Bendixen and Shirley Stimpert; brothers, Larris Freyholtz and Wallace Freyholtz.
Jean Ruth Freyholtz was born on September 30, 1939 in Wellington Township, Renville County to Harry and Helena (Kiecker) Freyholtz and grew up in Fairfax, Minnesota. Jean attended and graduated from High School in Fairfax. On November 5, 1958, Jean was united in marriage to George Kokesch in Shakopee. The couple was blessed with two daughters whom together they raised in New Ulm. Over her career, Jean helped her husband, George, doing administrative work for his business. Jean had a quick wit and loved a good joke. She enjoyed baking desserts, listening to German polka music and traveling the US with her beloved husband and friend, George Kokesch. Later in life, Jean found a love for drawing and coloring. Jean was a long-time, devout member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Blessed be her memory.
