Butch was born February 17, 1925 to Othneil and Eleanor (Price) Jones. He grew up on the family farm north of Lake Crystal. He enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17 and served aboard the USS Waterman in the Pacific theater from 1943-1946. Following the war, he married DeLoris Berg of New Ulm and they settled near Cambria, where they farmed and raised their family. After retiring, they moved to the Lake Crystal farm on the shores of Lily Lake, where he lived until he was 95.

Papa was a humble, kind, and generous man. He loved the land and took great pride in being a farmer. He was proud of his military service and his Welsh heritage, having a conversation in Welsh with his cousin on his 100th birthday. He was devoted to his family above all.

He was a faithful member and Elder of the Cambria Presbyterian Church, and served many years on the town board. He was a member of American Legion Post 329, Cambria, where he was recently honored for 80 years of membership, one of the longest in Minnesota.

Butch is survived by daughter, Vickie (Mike) Randall, and son, Richard (Marsha) Jones, all of Cambria; grandchildren, Keith (Amy) Stearns, Beth (Eran) Banon, Brian (Maggie) Stearns, Darcy (Steve Hundley) Stearns, Dawn Stearns, Maizie (Brandon) Arndt, Joshua (Lindsey Thompson) Randall, Nathan (Heidi) Jones, and Meredith (Nate Gieseke) Jones; great-grandchildren, Morgan (Nathan Rose), Hunter, Ethan, Brady, Hudson, Savannah, Trinity, Terrell, Carson, Vinnie, Brody, Brenley, Bayler, Henry, Hadley, Sawyer, and Eloise; and great-great-grandson, Beckham; step-grandchildren and families, Dana (Amy) Leonard, and Amber (Jason) Donaghue.

He was preceded in death by his wife, DeLoris; daughters, Judy Stearns and Connie Jones; and his son and daughter-in-law, Wint and Dee Ann Jones.

The family would like to thank the staff at Woodstone and Allina Hospice. A special thanks to Tim Domeier and Dan Thorson for their frequent visits these past years.
