NEW ULM–Gerald “Jerry” Bianchi, age 79, of New Ulm, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2025 at Woodstone Senior Living in New Ulm, surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025 at St. George Catholic Church in St. George. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Thursday, April 24 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. Jerry is survived by his wife, Diane; daughter, Jodi (Jeff) Nielsen of Albert Lea; son, Keith (Sheila) of St. Paul; grandchildren, Samantha Nielsen, Brody Nielsen, and Grace Bianchi; sisters, Joanne “Jo” (Dave) Reinhart of Bloomington, Mildred Bianchi of Laguna Niguel, CA, Carol (Greg) Farasyn of Lake Crystal, and Sharon (Lindsey) Friedley of New Ulm; brother-in-law, James “Jim” Weber of St. Peter; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Bernadette Bianchi and Arlene Weber.
Gerald B. Bianchi was born on November 13, 1945 in New Ulm to Edward & Angela (Traegner) Bianchi. He was united in marriage to Diane Grosam on October 26, 1968 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax. Jerry worked as farmer, a mechanic at Potter’s Implement, a truck driver, a butter maker at AMPI, and as telephone technician at Nuvera until his retirement. He was an active outdoorsman that enjoyed time in the woods, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and cycling. Jerry was a loving father and husband and loved spending time with his family. He had a great sense of humor, was a hard worker, and was always generous with his time, talent, and treasure. Jerry was member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and the Nicollet County Trail Association. Blessed be his memory.
