A new mission awaits

Making the transition from service member to veteran can be daunting. In an instant, you leave behind a community of brothers and sisters bound by a noble purpose. Then, there’s the more practical aspect of exiting military service, as many are left to find their next mission.

The attributes that made us successful in service — being driven, calm under pressure and efficient problem solvers — transfer well into the world of entrepreneurship. Despite these key characteristics, the barriers to launching, sustaining and growing a business can appear insurmountable.

However, one only has to look as far as DAV (Disabled American Veterans) for help.

In 2022, DAV acquired Patriot Boot Camp, a dynamic initiative that aids veterans, service members and spouses in becoming their own bosses as entrepreneurs. Through in-person and virtual events, current and future founders, creators and innovators receive crucial guidance and resources, including mentorship from leading business experts.

This transformative program not only empowers veterans but also offers a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth. All that’s required is for a veteran or spouse to already have a for-profit business. However, if you have yet to generate revenue but are raising capital, you are more than welcome to apply. One thing is absolutely mandatory: You are looking to grow.

Our next DAV Patriot Boot Camp event will take place Feb. 5-7 at DAV’s headquarters in the Cincinnati area, and enrollment is open year-round. Like all of our services, DAV Patriot Boot Camp programming is free of charge. Participants will also get the chance to compete for thousands of dollars in non-dilutive capital.

DAV is proud to help ease the burdens placed on veterans’ shoulders after hanging up the uniform for the last time. By helping veterans succeed as founders, we know they will create opportunities for their fellow veterans while strengthening our economy.

The relationships we’re establishing between those who served and the business leaders who are eager to help them will continue to bear fruit for many years to come.
