Impressive to see United Way Days of Caring in action

The United Way has started its annual Day of Caring program. For three days, volunteer teams organized by the United Way are working in the community to provide service to disabled or senior members of the community. The services provided include minor fall maintenance projects such as painting, window washing, cleaning gutters and raking leaves. In Brown County, volunteer teams began service work Thursday and will continue through Saturday.

Brown County United Way has organized the fall days of caring event for several years and it impressive to see so many volunteers stepping up to help their neighbors.

Rain returned

to New Ulm

After over a month without any moisture, south central Minnesota received a rainstorm Thursday night. In New Ulm, about a quarter inch of rain fell. Areas directly to the west and south of New Ulm received a little more rain, as much as half an inch. Before this latest rain, October was on pace to set the record for driest October in Minnesota. Thursdays shower will not be enough to reverse current drought conditions, but it is a start.
