Springfield
surges back
The Springfield Tigers excited their fans Thursday by surging back in their Class A state football tournament game against Goodhue in Rochester, scoring back-to-back touchdowns in the fourth quarter to win 20-14. Isaac Fredin caught the go-ahead touchdown pass from quarterback Parker Kuehn with 21 seconds to play, sending the Tigers to the semifinals next Saturday.

GnomeMade Market,Women’s Expo bossts economy
The GnomeMade Market has returned to New Ulm for it’s 40th Year. The citywide artisan craft market is the unofficial start for holiday shopping in New Ulm. The GnomeMade Market started with a small gathering of a few dozen crafters but has expanded to includes hundred of crafters from the region.
This year’s GnomeMade market features 20 different locations. Some locations opened Thursday, while others opened Friday and Saturday.
On Saturday, Jefferson Elementary will host the annual Women’s Expo, which is part of the GnomeMade Market. The Women’s Expo alone features dozens of vendor tables spread throughout the school. Together the GnomeMade Market and Women’s Expo bring hundreds to New Ulm, boosting the local economy in time for the holidays.

Veteran’s Day
is Monday
Monday, Nov. 11 is Veterans’ Day. The day marks the anniversary in which the first Word War came to an end. The occasion is the perfect chance to honor all who served our country.
Many government buildings will be closed in honor of the holiday, but New Ulm will feature a few programs to honor Veterans.
The day before Veteran’s Day on Sunday, State Street Theater will host a free Veterans Celebration starting at 2 p.m. The celebration will feature a concert from the 204th Army Band and guest speaker Bill Strusinski.
At 10 a.m. Monday, New Ulm High School will host a Veterans’ Day program. The New Ulm Battery will also honor veterans with a firing of the cannon. The battery will fire the cannon at 11 a.m. from the Schell’s Brewery.
