To the editor:

Lately there have been many back-and-forth accusations that others are misinformed or ignorant or are bent on the destruction of our country. One side claims that the other is being indoctrinated by fake sources of information. Let’s set that aside for a moment.

I have been told that I need to do “the homework” regarding our history and what is actually going on in our country. Regardless of how much homework is done, more importantly:

• I’ve gone to the grocery store. I’ve filled my tank with gas. I’ve seen and heard about the closing of businesses as a result of Democrat policies.

• I’ve communicated with those who live near our border and have seen how Americans elsewhere in our country have been impacted by the influx of illegal immigrants. I’ve driven through crime ridden cities filled with homeless encampments – cities run by Democrats. I’ve listened to those who have lost loved ones to crime committed by illegals and drugs carried in from China, etc.

• I have lived long enough and am informed enough to recognize that right now the situation around the world is more volatile than it was four years ago, as well as in my past. The situation both at home and abroad is more unsafe.

• I know very normal, everyday Americans who have been designated as “deplorable” and now are labeled “weird”. I know that this is ripping us apart.

And the list could go on…

I continue to pray for my country and for my children and grandchildren. It is sad that so many Americans are either intentionally aware or unintentionally blinded to what socialism/communism will mean for the future. Look at Canada and Venezuela and any other country that has tried it. Are they better off? Talk to those who have come to America to escape that way of life.

Fake or not? The reality of what is happening is not fake. It’s time to do homework with blinders off. The next couple months are vital to our nation’s future.

God, bless all of America. Stand beside her, and guide her.
