Embrace the military veteran in your life
To the editor:
As is the custom of many military veterans, earlier this week on Veterans Day I went to Applebee’s for my free meal. And last week many of us attended the always moving MVL Veterans Recognition program which is also a must-do. Thank you to every organization that offered some type of gift to Veterans.
War is senseless and senseless war demands senseless acts be committed by human beings against other human beings. If you have a combat vet with PTSD in your life, I believe they are crying out for mercy and understanding and forgiveness as they continually process and heal from what they were ordered to do.
“All of us gave some…some of us gave all” is a common phrase in Veterans Day speeches. PTSD vets are still giving their all.
For a lot of combat vets, every day is Memorial Day.
Please embrace the imperfect veteran in your life with love, patience, kindness, and empathy — qualities that reflect the compassion Jesus Christ has for us.
P.S. Any vet can call or text me anytime at 507-217-1554…I’d rather hear your story than read your obituary.
