To the editor:

We wish to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the New Ulm Journal for their recent achievements at the Minnesota Newspaper Association (MNA) awards banquet.

If you missed the article, here is a quick recap of the awards brought home by the Journal.

Sports Editor Travis Rosenau secured both a first and second place for his outstanding sports photography.  The MNA acknowledged his remarkable ability to capture the essence of the Sleepy Eye’s Legion Division 2 State Championship and Springfield’s state championship celebrations.

Additionally, staff writer Fritz Busch received a third-place award for Community Event reporting with the MNA recognizing his coverage of PrinceFest as a great showcase for his talent at capturing the unique spirit of community events.

Finally, our congratulations to the entire Journal staff, under the leadership of News Editor Clay Schuldt, for receiving third place for General Excellence. Clearly the MNA realizes the Journal has a longstanding commitment to producing a high-quality and readable newspaper beneficial to all of us.
