On July 15, 9-year old Ethan Schmidt, pictured above, of New Ulm placed sixth out of 31 golfers in the (10-to-12-year-old group) at New Hope Village Golf Course in New Hope, Minnesota. The tournament was part of the Minnesota Junior Golf Prep Tour. This was a par-3 course, with par being 27. Schmidt finished +7 (34) with one birdie on the day.

Schmidt also competed on July 17 in a U.S Kids Golf Tournament at Kimball Golf Club in Kimball, Minnesota, in the 9-year-old age group. Schmidt finished in second place, shooting a -1 (35) with a birdie and an eagle on the day. He was one shot short of winner Cade Kershaw of Northfield.

Schmidt moves into second place in the Minneapolis Local Tour heading into the Tour Championship on Sunday, July 24, at Gopher Hills Golf Course in Cannon Falls, Minnesota.
