St. Olaf sweeps MLC in nonconference volleyball match

NORTHFIELD — The Martin Luther College volleyball team traveled to St. Olaf College for a nonconference match on Saturday evening. The Knights played a solid match against the MIAC school, but the Oles only committed a total of five errors in three sets against MLC, leading to their 3-0 sweep.
In the first set, the Knights had 12 kills and just two errors resulting in a .333 hitting percentage, but St. Olaf started things off with a mistake-free opener and produced 15 kills in a 25-15 win. MLC made it closer in the middle set and traded points with the Oles before pulling away with the 25-20 advantage.
St. Olaf continued their consistent play in the final set, as the Oles delivered 14 kills on two errors and took the set and the match with he 25-14 victory on a .388 hitting percentage to wrap it up.
Grace Kieselhorst led MLC in kills (10) and assists (14) and inched closer to the 1,000 assist milestone, as the senior left the match with 963 career assists as a member of the Knights. Ella Walz had another solid match as the Knights’ setter, recording 13 assists.
MLC goes to 6-17 overall, 3-6 UMAC, and will be back on the court again on Friday, October 25, when they host Minnesota Morris at 7 p.m.
