The South District, West Subdistrict football awards were announced Friday, with several area players being honored.

Springfield took home three individual awards as senior Brayden Sturm was named the South Division’s Defensive Back of the Year, sophomore Aiden Moriarty was named the South Division Defensive Back of the Year and senior Gavin Vanderwerf was named the South Division Linebacker of the Year.

Sleepy Eye United’s Talan Helget was named the South Division’s Receiver of the Year.

Springfield also saw eight players receive All-Subdistrict honors. Kody Bast, Sturm, Vanderwerf, Isaac Fredin, Aiden Moriarty and Madden Lendt were named All-Subdistrict, while Joe Nachreiner and Parker Kuehn were Honorable Mention.

SEU saw Tucker Haala, Helget, Cody Schultz and Wyatt Pollard earn All-Subdistrict honors, while Jack Windschitl and Carson Uecker were Honorable Mention.

Wabasso saw Calvin Haana, Kaysen Harms and Sam Zeug receiver named All-Subdistrict, while Mason Kampsen and Zeke Olson were Honorable Mention.
