SOUTH ST. PAUL — South Saint Paul downed New Ulm 2-0 in a nonconference girls hockey game on Saturday.
New Ulm outshot South St. Paul 37-14 in the game. New Ulm committed four penalties, while South St. Paul committed five. South St. Paul’s second goal was on an empty New Ulm net. Ava Brennan had 11 saves for New Ulm.
New Ulm (1-4) travels to Willmar on Tuesday.

WWG 67, Wabasso 28
WABASSO — Wabasso took losses to Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda on Friday and Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Saturday in a home tournament to open the girls basketball season, falling 50-33 to Coyotes and 67-28 to the Chargers.
Aylah Jenniges led the Rabbits against HLO/F, totaling 12 points, six rebounds and three assists. Anistasia Smith and Ava Saymn each had eight points in the game against WWG, with Smith adding six rebounds.
Wabasso (0-2) hosts Tracy-Milroy -Balaton on Tuesday.
