Cedar Mountain 58, Sleepy Eye 54
MORGAN — Cedar Mountain edged Sleepy Eye 58-54 on Friday in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Tomahawk Division boys basketball game.
Blake Schueller led the Cougars with 17 points and 16 rebounds. Zach Sandgren added 14 points and seven rebounds. Blake Steffl had 13 points, six rebounds and five assists. Carson Schiller scored 12 points.
Robert Romberg led Sleepy Eye with 20 points. Eric Lozano and Brayden Heiderscheidt each scored 11 points. Landon Wendinger added 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Sleepy Eye (4-3, 3-2) will participate in a Holiday Tournament on Dec. 27 in Tyler at Russell-Tyler-Ruthton High School.
GFW 61, BLHS 53
HECTOR– Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop downed Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 61-53 on Friday in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Tomahawk Division boys basketball game.
Cole Jacobson led the Thunderbirds with 28 points and Owen Swenson had 11 points.
Grunau Carter led the Mustangs with 17 points.
GFW (3-3, 1-1) will play at Springfield on Jan. 3. BLHS (0-6, 0-4) will play at Yellow Medicine East on Dec. 27.
Springfield 87, Lester Prairie 82
LESTER PRAIRIE — Springfield downed Lester Prairie 87-82 on Friday in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Tomahawk Division boys basketball game.
Bryan Buerkle led the Tigers with 30 points and 13 rebounds. Brecken Heiling and Brayden Sturm each had 15 points and Parker Kuehn scored 14 points.
Springfield (4-1, 3-1) will host Mountain Lake/Comfrey on Dec. 27.
Nicollet 66, Martin County West 63
NICOLLET — Nicollet eked by MCW 66-63 on Friday in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Valley Division boys basketball game.
Carson Kettner led the Raiders with 20 points and six rebounds. Keegan Hulke had 12 points, Henry Kennedy scored 10 points and Henry Oscarson added 11 points and six rebounds.
Nicollet (2-4, 2-2) will face Lac Qui Parle Valley in the Lakeview Holiday Tournament on Dec. 27.
Madelia 88, GHEC/T/ML 52
MADELIA — Madelia cruised by Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther 88-52 in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Valley Division boys basketball game.
Kaydon Firchau led the Blackhawks with 32 points, 26 in the second half, while adding seven assists and four rebounds. Kyle Pietsch had 15 points and 12 points, while Tony Zaleski had 14 points.
Madelia (6-0, 4-0) hosts Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda on Thursday, Jan. 2.

St. Mary’s 66, Sibley East 24
SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s rolled Sibley East 66-24 Friday in a nonconference girls basketball game.
Morgan Mathiowetz led the Knights with 28 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and five steals. Olivia Schieffert added 17 points, four rebounds and five assists. Brynne Ibberson had 8 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals, while Natalie Fischer scored 8 points and had three steals.
Mahrlie Lundgren led the Wolverines with 7 points and Bridget Bron added 4 points.
St. Mary’s (8-0, 5-0) will play at Cedar Mountain (6-2, 3-1) on Jan. 3. Sibley East (3-7) play in a tournament at Blue Earth Area on Friday.
Sleepy Eye 87, Cedar Mountain 61
SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye defeated Cedar Mountain 87-61 Friday in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Tomahawk Division girls basketball game.
Paige Haala led Sleepy Eye with 23 points, five rebounds and five assists. Kayla Hecht scored 19 points with nine rebounds, while Taylor Berkner had 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Cadence Okerman scored 12 points and had seven rebounds and seven assists. Sam Price had 12 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
Aubrey Steffl led the Cougars with 31 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and four steals. Kaedee Okins scored 10 points with seven rebounds and two assists and Marlie Wildt had 6 points and six rebounds.
Sleepy Eye (5-5, 5-1) plays in a tournament at Southwest Minnesota State on Friday. Cedar Mountain (6-3, 3-2) will face Yellow Medicine East on Dec. 27 in the Lakeview Holiday Tournament.
St. Peter 73, New Ulm 72
ST. PETER — St. Peter edged New Ulm 73-72 Friday in a Big South Conference girls basketball game.
Brooklyn Lewis led the Eagles with 22 points and six rebounds. Maddie Backer had 15 points and two rebounds. Morgain Hulke added 13 points and four rebounds.
New Ulm (4-4, 3-2) will face Rochester John Marshall on Dec. 27 in the Winona State Holiday Tournament.
MCW 71, Nicollet 47
NICOLLET — Martin County West raced past Nicollet 71-47 on Friday in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Valley Division girls basketball game.
Leah Bode led the Raiders with 18 points and Savannah Klockziem added 8 points.
Nicollet (5-3, 4-2) will play at Sleepy Eye on Jan. 4.
PREP GYMNASTICS
Luverne 133.95, New Ulm 129.2
LUVERNE — Luverne topped New Ulm 133.95 to 129.2 in a Big South Conference prep gymnastics meet on Friday.
Sophia Berger led New Ulm with a 32.65 all-around score, while Avarey Sellner placed sixth in the all-around with a 24.925. Berger placed third on beam witha 8.55, sixth on the bars with a 7.4 and seventh on the floor with a 8.25. Avarey Sellner was fourth on the floor, scoring a 8.5, fifth on beam with a 7.95 and took seventh on the vault with a 8.475. Josie Sellner placed second on bars (8.1) and beam (8.8), while Isabelle Longtin took fifth on vault (8.65).
New Ulm travels to Worthington on Thursday, Jan. 2.
