SPRINGFIELD — With five players in double figures, the Springfield Tigers hit the century mark Friday in a 100-51 nonconference boys basketball win over Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey.
Bryan Buerkle led the Tigers (5-1) in the win with 21 points and four rebounds, while Isaac Fredin had 19 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals. Brecken Heiling added 14 points and six rebounds also for the Tigers, while Brayden Sturm had 13 points, five rebounds and three steals, Dylan Simonson had 13 points, Madden Lendt had 7 points, five rebounds and four steals and Parker Kuehn added 7 points.
Sibley East 66, GHEC/T/ML 57 (2OT)
BLUE EARTH — The Sibley East Wolverines defeated Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther 66-57 in double overtime in a nonconference boys basketball game Friday at a Blue Earth Area invite.
Sibley East (3-3) took control in the second overtime with a 9-0 run and never let GHEC score in that period. Quinton DeVlaeminck hit a pair of 3s during that run to lead the Wolverines and finished with 20 points and eight rebounds.
Evan Pautsch added 12 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Wolverines, while Ezra Weber had 12 points, five rebounds and three steals and Riley Bussler had 11 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Jack Feterl added 9 points, seven rebounds and three assists for Sibley East, while Nate Colling grabbed nine rebounds and had three steals.

WABASSO — Westbrook-Walnut Grove held off Wabasso 98-94 on Friday in a nonconference boys basketball game.
Wabasso (5-3) was led by Brayden Guetter’s 29 points and six rebounds, while Tavyn Larson added 16 points, six rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Jack Burns added 13 points, six rebounds and three assists for the Rabbits also, while Drew Kemp had 10 points and nine rebounds.

TYLER — Hancock topped Sleepy Eye 64-54 on Friday in a nonconference boys basketball invite game at Russell-Tyler-Ruthton High School.
Landon Wendinger led Sleepy Eye (4-4) with 26 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks, while Eric Lozano had 9 points and Brayden Heiderscheidt added 8 points and five rebounds.

LAKEVIEW — Lac Qui Parle Valley defeated Nicollet 73-59 on Friday in a nonconference boys basketball game at the Lakeview Invitational.
Nicollet (2-5) was led by Carson Kettner’s 17 points, while Henry Kennedy added 13 points, six rebounds and four assists and Noah Fitzner had 10 points and six steals. Also for the Raiders, AJ Kramer had 8 points, while Keegan Hulke had 7 points, six rebounds and four assists.

WINONA — The New Ulm Eagles topped the Rochester John Marshall Rockets 73-63 on Friday in a Winona State girls basketball invite game.
Brooklyn Lewis paced the Eagles (5-4) in the win over the Class AAAA Rockets with 23 points, while Leah Brustad had 16 points. Maddie Backer added 12 points for the Eagles, who play Winona Cotter at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in another invite game at Winona State.
Sleepy Eye 52, LQPV 26
MARSHALL — Sleepy Eye downed Lac Qui Parle Valley in a nonconference girls basketball game Friday at the Southwest Minnesota State University Invitational.
Sam Price led Sleepy Eye (6-5) in the win with 12 points, five rebounds and five blocks, while Kayla Hecht had 12 points and Paige Haala had 11 points, four rebounds and three steals. Jace Schauman added 6 points, seven rebounds and three steals.

SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield Tigers rolled over Mountain Lake Comfrey 80-43 on Friday night in a nonconference girls basketball game.
Emma Hauger led the way in the win for Springfield with 26 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Olivia Milbrath had 16 points and seven rebounds and Jasmine Novotny had 11 points and five rebounds. Kendall Krueger added 10 points and seven rebounds also for the Tigers, now 5-3 overall.
The Tigers host Redwood Valley on Thursday.

LAKEVIEW — Cedar Mountain improved to 7-3 on the season with a 54-49 win over Yellow Medicine East in a nonconference girls basketball game Friday at the Lakeview Northstar Basketball Classic.
Cedar Mountain was led by Aubrey Steffl, who had 21 points, 14 rebounds, nine assists and six steals, while Kenda Erickson had 14 points and seven rebounds. Brooklyn Diehn added 14 points and three steals.
The Cougars continue their time in the Classic at 2:15 p.m. Saturday against Ortonville.

NORWOOD YOUNG AMERICA — Minnesota Valley Lutheran’s seven-game winning streak to open the 2024-25 season was ended Friday at a Norwood Young America girls basketball invite as New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva downed the Chargers 83-37.
The Chargers (7-1) were ked by Avery Freier’s 14 points, while Ziva Zahrt added 7 points and Ellie Kaesermann had 4.
Can Vanmaldenghem led NRHEG with 32 points, while Quinn Vanmaldenghem had 19 points and Kylie Olson had 17.

PROCTOR — Brookfield downed New Ulm 8-2 on Friday night in a nonconference boys hockey game at an invitational in Proctor.
Ian Brudelie and Ben Alfred each scored a goal for New Ulm, while Keaton Weston and Hunter Larson added an assist.
Graham Glaser stopped 36 shots in net for New Ulm, which was outshot 44-19.

SARTELL — Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato held off New Ulm 2-1 on Friday in a nonconference girls hockey game at the Sartell-Bernick’s Arena Holiday Tournament.
Callie Haugen scored New Ulm’s lone goal unassisted. The Eagles were outshot 33-11, getting 31 saves in net from Ava Brennan.

SARTELL — New Ulm opened play at the Sartell-Bernick’s Arena Holiday Tournament on Thursday with a 4-3 win over Northern Lakes.
Madalynn Olson scored two goals to lead New Ulm, while Jersey Haugen and Brecklyn Harazin added a goal. Haugen also had three assists, while Isabelle Forstner, Olson and Tristyn Wolner each had an assist.
Ava Schmid had 30 saves in net for New Ulm, which tied Northern Lakes in shots on goal with 33.
