GFW 69, Wabasso 58

WABASSO — The Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thunderbirds took down the Wabasso Rabbits 69-58 on Monday night in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Tomahawk Division boys basketball game.

GFW was ked by Easton Taylor’s 22 points, while Cole Jacobson had 21 points and 12 rebounds. Layton Hamre added 8 points for the Thunderbirds, while Kaden Rieke had 7 points.

Braydon Guetter led Wabasso with 22 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, while Cole Frericks had 16 points and 12 rebounds. Tavyn Larson had 9 points also for the Rabbits.

GFW (5-6, 3-3) hosts Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s in conference action on Thursday, while Wabasso (8-6, 4-4) is at Hector to take on Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart in a conference game Thursday night.

Cleveland 54

CLEVELAND — The Madelia Blackhawks moved to a perfect 11-0 start to the season with a 105-54 win over the Cleveland Clippers on Monday night in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Valley Division boys basketball game.

Hayden Jones hit eight 3-pointers for Madelia and finished with a team-high 31 points, while Kaydon Firchau hit five 3s an finished with 27 points. Kyle Pietsch had 18 points and 23 rebounds, while Josiah DeMaris added 18 points. Dalton Tatro had 11 points and 12 rebounds off the bench for Madelia.

The Blackhawks hit 15 3-pointers in the game.

Madelia (11-0, 6-0) is at Mankato Loyola for another conference game on Thursday.

Springfield 78, BOLD 70

BIRD ISLAND — Springfield held off BOLD 78-70 on Monday night in a nonconference boys basketball game.

Brayden Sturm led the way for the Tigers with 23 points, seven assists and five rebounds, while Isaac Fredin had 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Also for Springfield, Dylan Simonson had 13 points, while Bryan Buerkle had 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Springfield (10-1) is at New Ulm Cathedral for a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Tomahawk Division game on Tuesday night.

Nicollet 79, AC/GE 55

ALDEN — Nicollet defeated Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons 79-55 on Monday night in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Valley Division boys basketball game.

Henry Oscarson led the Raiders with a 29-point effort, while Carson Kettner added 11 points and five rebounds. Keegan Hulke had 10 points, five rebounds and five assists also for Nicollet, while Henry Kennedy had 10 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.

Nicollet (4-8, 3-2) hosts Cleveland at 5:45 p.m. Thursday.
