BOYS BASKETBALL

MVL 80, TCU 45

NEW ULM — Minnesota Valley Lutheran downed Tri City United on Tuesday in a nonconference boys basketball game.

Brau Pierson led the Chargers with 20 points and five rebounds. Luke Merseth had 12 points and six rebounds. Trace Gunderson added 11 points and six rebounds.

Carter Beulke scored 16 points for TCU, while Jaylen Nhem had 11 points.

MVL (6-5, 0-1) will play at Sibley East (6-5, 1-0) on Thursday.

Waseca 95,

Sibley East 55

WASECA — Sibley East fell to Waseca 95-55 on Tuesday night in a nonconference boys basketball game.

Quintin DeVlaeminck led the Wolverines in the loss with 17 points, four rebounds and four assists, while Riley Bussler had 11 points, Ezra Weber had 9 points and Gavin Pomplun had 8 points. Jack Feterl added five rebounds and four assists for Sibley East.

Sibley East (6-6) hosts Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Thursday.

Mankato East 38

MANKATO — New Ulm beat Mankato East on Tuesday in a nonconference girls basketball game.

Maddie Backer led the Eagles with 38 points, while Ramsey Hopp had 16 points and Morgan Hulke scored 10 points.

New Ulm (9-4, 5-2) will play at Marshall on Thursday.

LCWM 77, MVL 54

LAKE CRYSTAL — Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Tuesday in a South Central Conference girls basketball game.

Olivia Hammer led the Chargers with 13 points, Ellie Kaesermann had 12 points and six rebounds and Avery Hahn added 7 points and four rebounds.

Ireland Sargent led LCWM with 13 points, Alice Hollerich had 12 points and Grace Sandmeyer scored 11 points.

MVL (7-5, 1-2) will host Wabasso (1-14, 0-8) on Thursday.

SESM 76, Sleepy Eye 44

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s ran past Sleepy Eye on Tuesday in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Tomahawk Division girls basketball game.

Morgan Mathiowetz led all scorers with 44 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and three steals. Olivia Schieffler added 22 points, two rebounds, six assists and two steals. Brynne Ibberson added 2 points, six rebounds and two assists.

Paige Haala led the Indians with 19 points and four rebounds. Jaelynn Schauman added 7 points. Taylor Berkner had 6 points and three blocks. Sam Price scored 6 points and she had four rebounds. Cadence Okerman scored 4 points and had seven rebounds and four assists.

St. Mary’s (13-0, 9-0) will host Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop (3-10, 1-6) on Friday. Sleepy Eye (9-7, 6-3) will play at New Ulm Cathedral (2-11, 2-7) on Friday.

MORGAN — Cedar Mountain defeated Mountain Lake/Comfrey on Tuesday in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Tomahawk Division girls basketball game.

Aubrey Steffl led the Cougars with 26 points, 17 rebounds, six assists and three steals. Marlie Wildt had 15 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks while Kendra Erickson added 12 points, seven rebounds and one block.

Ashlyn Pfeiffer led the Wolverines with 13 points, Julia Brinkman had 12 points and Ellamae Peters scored 9 points.

Cedar Mountain (12-4, 5-3) will play at Lester Prairie on Friday.

Cathedral 57

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield edged New Ulm Cathedral on Tuesday in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Tomahawk Division girls basketball game.

Emma Hauger led the Tigers with 20 points, five rebounds and five steals. Jada Reese had 18 points, six rebounds and Olivia Milbrath scored 14 points and she added 12 rebounds.

Shay Wilfahrt led the Greyhounds with 33 points, Maddy Gilles had 16 points and Brynn Wilfahrt added 6 points.

Springfield (9-4, 7-2) will host Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther on Friday. Cathedral (2-11, 2-6) will host Sleepy Eye (9-7, 6-3) on Friday.

GFW 67, Wabasso 36

WINTHROP — Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop defeated Wabasso on Tuesday in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Tomahawk Division girls basketball game.

GFW was led by Kinley Bruns’ 19 points, while Trinity Stearns and Taylor Bauer each had 15 points.

Anistasia Smith led the Rabbits with 13 points and seven rebounds and Ava Samyn added eight rebounds.

GFW (3-10, 1-6) will travel to Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s (13-0, 9-0) on Friday. Wabasso (1-15, 0-8) will play at Minnesota Valley Lutheran (7-5, 1-2) on Thursday.

Nicollet 57, AC/GC 45

NICOLLET — Nicollet beat Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons on Tuesday in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Valley Division girls basketball game.

Leah Bode led the Raiders with 30 points, while Zoie Rengstorf had 14 points. Cheyenne Klockziem added 6 points, while Kamryn Truebenbach had 5 points.

Macy Matson led the Knights with 19 points and Courtney Bakeanl had 15 points.

Nicollet (7-6, 5-2) will host Cleveland on Thursday.

GIRLS HOCKEY

New Ulm 1,

South Central 1 (OT)

WASECA — New Ulm and South Central played to a 1-1 draw Tuesday in a Big South Conference girls hockey game.

Brecklyn Harazin tied the game at 12:14 of the third period, assisted by Mya Hornick. Ava Brennan made 51 saves in the game as New Ulm put 22 shots on goal.

New Ulm (8-10-2) travels to Worthington on Thursday.

PREP WRESTLING

NUA goes 2-1 at

Nicollet quad

NICOLLET — New Ulm Area defeated Canby 50-18 and Kenyon-Wanamingo 35-25 but fell to Lake Crystal-Wellcome-Memoral/Nicollet 35-27 in a prep wrestling quadrangular on Tuesday.

Elijah Rieser went 3-0 on the day at 139, as did Dirk Haynes at 160. Jamisen Frederickson also went 3-0 with three pins at 189. Wyatt Pollard and Lane Ruch each went 3-0 as well at 172 and 189, respectively.
