CATHEDRAL — Trailing 35-25 at the half, the New Ulm Cathedral boys basketball team mounted a second-half comeback to take down Cleveland 56-51 on Thursday evening in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference crossover boys basketball game.
Joe Gillis led the Greyhounds in the win with 17 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Jake Finstad had 14 points. Eli Anderson was the third Greyhound in double figures with 10 points, while Jack Edwards chipped in 8 points and Colin Anderson had six rebounds.
Cathedral (7-11) is at Wabasso for an afternoon Tomahawk Division game Saturday.
BOLD 75, Cedar Mountain 74
MORGAN — After being defeated for the first time all season Tuesday against Springfield on a buzzer-beater, the Cedar Mountain boys basketball team dropped another close game Thursday as the BOLD Warriors pulled out a 75-74 upset in a nonconference game.
Cedar Mountain (14-2) was led by Blake Schueller’s 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Blake Steffl had 21 points, nine assists and five rebounds. Zach Sandgren had 16 points for the Cougars also, while Carson Schiller added 14 points.
BOLD moved to 11-6 with the win.
Cedar Mountain is at Sleepy Eye for a Tomahawk Division game Friday.
Madelia 69, MCW 66
SHERBURN — Madelia held off Martin County West 69-66 on Thursday in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Valley Division boys basketball game.
Kaydon Firchau led Madelia with 27 points, while Hayden Jones had 18 points and Josiah DeMaris had 11.
Madelia (14-3) hosts Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons on Tuesday.
Maple River 62, Sibley East 55
ARLINGTON — Maple River downed topped Arlington 62-55 in a South Central Conference boys basketball game Thursday.
Ezra Webber led the Wolverines with 16 points and six rebounds, while Quintin DeVlaeminc had 15 points and six rebounds. Jack Feterl added 9 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals for Sibley East.
Sibley East (6-11, 1-4) hosts St. Clair on Tuesday.

Jordan 82, New Ulm 65
JORDAN — Jordan defeated New Ulm 82-65 in a nonconference girls basketball game Thursday,.
Brooklyn Lewis led the Eagles with 15 points, while Morgan Hulke had 12 points. Maddie Backer added 9 points for New Ulm.
New Ulm (11-7) hosts Tri-City United on Friday
BOLD 68, Cedar Mountain 56
MORGAN — BOLD downed Cedar Mountain 68-56 in a nonconference girls basketball game on Thursday.
Aubrey Steffl led the Cougars with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Kendra Erickson had 12 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. Marie Wildt had 12 points and six rebounds, and Brooklyn Diehn added 12 points.
Cedar Mountain (14-7) hosts Sleepy Eye on Friday.

New Ulm 5, Providence Academy 5
PLYMOUTH — New Ulm tied Providence Academy 5-5 on Tuesday night in a nonconference boys hockey game.
New Ulm tied it at 5-all in the third period on a goal from Hunter Larson, but no team was able to get the edge in overtime.
Larson led New Ulm with a hat trick and two assists, while Carson Uecker had a goal and two assists and Talan Helget had a goal. Brody Nordby added three assists for the Eagles.
Eagles goalie Blaine Arneson had 46 saves in net for New Ulm, while the Eagles had 22 shots on goal.
GIRLS HOCKEY
New Ulm 5, Windom 0
WINDOM — New Ulm blanked Windom 5-0 in a Big South Conference girls hockey game on Thursday.
Madalynn Olson, Callie Haugen, Mya Hornick and Abby Forstner each scored and added an assist in the game, while Lilly Kral had a goal and Brielynn Weston had two assists. Ava Brennan had 21 saves in the shutout.
New Ulm (10-13-2, 3-7-1) awaits playoff seeding.

Wabasso sweeps at St. Clair tri
Wabasso went 2-0 during a prep wrestling triangular Thursday at St. Clair, defeating St. Clair/Mankato Loyola 57-14 and Blue Earth Area 45-25.
