HECTOR– Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop’s Cole Jacobson scored his 1,000 career point in an 84-43 win over Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart Friday in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Tomahawk Division boys basketball game.

Jacobson finished with 33 points to lead the Thunderbirds, while Easton Taylor had 18 points. Eric Herrera had 8 points and Clayton Korg had 7 points for GFW.

No statistics were reported for BLHS.

GFW (7-10, 4-6) travels to BOLD on Monday. BLHS (0-19, 0-13) travels to New Ulm Cathedral on Tuesday.

Blake Schueller led the Cougars with 34 points, 14 rebounds and three steals, while Blake Steffl had 20 points, nine assists and five steals. Carson Schiller added 11 points and five assists for Cedar Mountain.

Landon Wendinger had 25 points and 16 rebounds for the Indians, while Brayden Heiderscheidt and Robert Romberg had 5 points each.

Brecken Heiling led the Tigers with 31 points and three assists, while Brayden Sturm had 17 points, eight rebounds and nine assists. Bryan Buerkle had 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Dylan Simonson had 12 points and four rebounds.

Springfield (17-1, 11-1) travels to Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Tuesday.

MAYER — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s took its first loss of the season to Mayer Lutheran, going down 65-54 to the fifth-ranked Crusaders Friday in a nonconference girls basketball game.

Morgan Mathiowetz had 28 points, seven steals, six rebounds and two assists for the Knights, while Olivia Schieffert had 13 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. Amelia Schwartz added 5 points, seven rebounds and two steals.

St. Mary’s (18-1) travels to No. 7 Central Minnesota Christian on Saturday.

Paige Haala led the Indians with 19 points, three rebounds and three steals, while Cadence Okerman had 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Sam Price had 9 points and three steals, while Taylor Berkner had 8 points, seven rebounds and three blocks.

Aubrey Steffl earned her fifth triple-double of the year with 15 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists for Cedar Mountain, while Kendra Erickson had 15 points, 10 rebounds and three steals.
