Friday area roundup: Hauger hits 1,000 for Springfield girls

GIRLS BASKETBALL

BLHS 63, Springfield 55

HECTOR – Springfield’s Emma Hauger scored her 1,000th career point on Friday night in a 63-55 loss at Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart in a Tomahawk Division girls basketball game.

Hauger finished with 17 points, while Jada Reese had 16 points and four rebounds and Olivia Milbrath had 8 points and eight rebounds.

BLHS was led by Lily Hubin’s 38 points, while Jamie Novotny had 16 points.

Springfield fell to 13-9 overall and 9-6 in Tomahawk play.

Lester Prairie 80,

St. Mary’s 74

LESTER PRAIRIE – Lester Prairie knocked off Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Friday night, winning 80-74 in a Tomahawk Division girls basketball game.

Morgan Mathiowetz led the Knights in the loss with 34 points, seven rebounds, six assists and four steals, while Olivia Schieffert had 18 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and five steals. Brynne Ibberson had 11 points and four rebounds, while Natalie Fischer had 9 points and five rebounds.

Addison Hoof had 33 to lead Lester Prairie, while Anah Lee had 28 points.

St. Mary’s fell to 21-2 overall and 14-1 in the Tomahawk with the loss. Despite the loss, St. Mary’s has already guaranteed itself a spot in the Tomahawk-Valley Conference Championship at St. Mary’s High School on Feb. 18.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Madelia 88, Cleveland 73

MADELIA — Madelia downed Cleveland 88-73 on Friday night in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Valley Division boys basketball game.

Kaydon Firchau led the Blackhawks in the win with 37 points and seven assists, while Jaydon Jones had 23 points. Josiah DeMaris added 11 points also for Madelia, while Tate Becker hauled in 11 rebounds.
