ST. PAUL — The fourth-seeded Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Area wrestling team finished third overall on Thursday in the Class A State Wrestling Team Tournament at Xcel Energy Center, defeating Jackson County Central in the third-place match 34-23.

LCWMA opened the morning with a 33-27 win over fifth-seeded Canby before falling to No. 1-seeded Chatfield in the semifinals 43-15.

The third-place dual saw LCWMA’s Ryan Palmer (160) and Mason Adams (285) both pick up a fall, while Nick Slater earned a 15-0 tech fall at 189.

LCWMA wouldn’t have made it to the third-place match if not for Adams’ heavyweight win earlier in the day. Adams clinched the win for LCWMA over Canby with his pine of Jordan DePestel in 3:20. The score was tied up at 27-all before Adams’ pin in the second period.
