River Valley girls take 2nd at weekend Wolverine meet
MANKATO — River Valley participated in the Wolverine Indoor Track and Field Meet on Saturday, with the girls team placing second with 108 points and the boys team placing third with 79 points.
Jackson County Central led the girls side of the meet with 137 points, followed by River Valley, Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial/Nicollet (75), Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey placed fourth (51), Tracy-Milroy-Balaton took fifth (34) and Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central placed sixth (22).
LCWM/N took first for the boys (122), followed by TMB (82), River Valley, JCC (75), MLA/C (54) and WWG/RRC (19).
For the River Valley girls, Marley Hewitt placed second in the 55-meter dash (8.12) and first on the 200 (29.39), while Marissa Pabst placed first in the 1,600 (5:53.67). Katie Thram placed second in the 55-meter hurdles (9.81), and the 4×200 relay team of Yessenia Fernandez, Julianne McCone, Millie Lax and Lydia Dauer took first (2:04.30). The 4×400 relay team of Lydia Dauer, Skyla Dauer, Pabst and Hewitt also placed first (4:39.26), as did the 4×800 relay team of Thram, Olivia Milbrath, Emmie McCone and Bast (11:01.89).
For the River Valley boys, Gianluka Fernandez placed second in the 55-meter dash (7.15), while Matthew Groebner (5:01.84) and Dylan Dewitt (5:16.62) placed first and second, respectively, in the 1,600. The 4×400 relay team of Noah Christensen, Lucas Hensch, Gianluka Fernandez and Groebner placed first (3:49.43), as did the 4×800 team of Dewitt, Robert Romberg, Christensen and Groebner (8:58.25).
