Tomahawk battles Red Rock in All Jamboree Basketball event

WINTHROP — The annual Tim Orth Foundation All Jamboree Basketball event will take place this Friday night at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop High School, pitting players from the Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Tomahawk Division against players from the Red Rock Conference.

Approximately 60 players from the conferences have been invited to participate in the event, which features a boys all-star game and a girls all-star game. The games were held in conjunction with the Tim Orth Memorial Foundation’s annual event. The doors open at 5 p.m., with the first game beginning at 6 p.m.

Prior to the game, group photos with the players, mascots or Orth recipients will be allowed at 5:30 p.m. Profits from the event will be given to individuals with major medical expenses that have been chosen by the Tim Orth Foundation. This year’s recipients will be Lennon Ludewig, son of Jeremy and Carly Ludewig of Sleepy Eye. Lennon Ludewig was diagnosed with B cell lymphoblastic leukemia x 2. Azaylia Martinez, daughter of Miguel Martinez and Trinity Suess of New Ulm, will be another recipient. Azaylia Martinez was born on Dec. 12, 2024, as a premature baby. Cashton Pressley, son of Carl Pressley and Avia Ramos of New Ulm, will be another recipient. Cashton Pressley was born on April 4, 2024, as a premature baby. Another recipient is Lukas Merkel, son of Jeff Merkel and Kaitlyn Haas of Sleepy Eye. Lukas Merkel was diagnosed with Autism.

There are also a number of special events being planned for this year, such as a 3-point shooting contest before the game. There will also be a number of professional mascots there, including the Bear from the Utah Jazz, as well as the Utah Jazz Dunk Team. Also returning will be the F-M Acro team doing gymnastics, along with the Rim Rockers and more.

Cost for the event is $12 for adults and $10 for students.
