Three to be inducted into New Ulm Bowling Association’s Hall of Fame

NEW ULM – Three bowlers will be inducted into the New Ulm Bowling Hall of Fame on Friday evening, April 11, at the Kegel Klub – Concordia Lanes.

The 2025 inductee for the New Ulm Women’s Bowling Association is Marlys Zeig. The Men’s Bowling Association is bestowing this year’s Hall of Fame honors to Randy Paa and Mike Wolf.

Marlys Zeig has been bowling for over 40 years. She has a high game of 278, high series of 590 and high average of 169. Zeig has served as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Primetimers league since 2023. She has competed in the National Seniors Championship tournament in 2018 and 2021, as well as Minnesota Seniors Championship tournaments from 2014 to 2023, finishing in the top 10 each year.

Throughout her career, Zeig has participated in the Tuesday night couples league and Mixed couples league with husband, Larry and Primetimers league since 2017.

Randy Paa has been involved in the sport of bowling in New Ulm for nearly 40 years. He holds a career high average of 203, high game of 288 with high series being 747. Paa started bowling through the bantam and junior programs and then continued through high school. He went on to bowl on the Mankato State University Bowling team from 1979 to 1982, being named MVP in 1982.

In New Ulm adult leagues, Paa has held several offices as well as earned numerous titles during his bowling career. He has served on the New Ulm Bowling Council as association officer, bowling instructor, Hall of Fame Committee and league President and Captain from 1984 to 1997. He’s also participated in tournaments at the local, state and national level.

Wolf started bowling at age 12 and continued bowling for over 40 years. His high career average was 206. Wolf’s high game is 288 and holds a high career series of 764. Wolf started bowling in the bantam league, moved on to junior league and then high school. His adult years were fruitful as he held an average of over 200 for his last 10 years of league bowling.

Wolf was a team captain in both the Straightaway and All Star leagues. In 1999 he was awarded by the USBC for his “11 in-a-row” honor score. He competed in tournaments at both the local and state level. Highly regarded as a competitive bowler, he was appreciated by fellow players for the fun and energy he brought to the game.
