NEW PRAGUE — The New Ulm boys tennis team went 2-0 Monday at a boys tennis triangular, defeating New Prague 4-3 and Farmington 5-2.

Getting wins for New Ulm against New Prague were Charlie Weidman, Ian Schotzko and Dan Brownfield and Isaac Dittmer. Weidman won a No. 1 singles match 6-3, 6-4 against Carson Sayler, while Schotzko won at No. 2 singles over Lasse Mies 6-0, 6-3. Brownfield beat Evan Otremba 6-0, 6-2 at No, 3 singles, while Dittmer won 6-1, 6-0 over Daniel Little at No. 4 singles.

Schotzko, Brownfield and Dittmer also got wins for New Ulm against Farmington, while New Ulm’s No. 2 doubles and 3 doubles teams won. Schotzko defeated Aiden Harer 7-3, 7-6, 7-5 at No. 2 singles, while Brownfield beat Ben Monson 6-2, 6-1 at No 3 singles and Dittmer beat Spencer Corrigan 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. The New Ulm No. 2 doubles team of Wyatt Feucht and Thomas Lehne defeated Lucas Deplazes 6-3, 6-4, while the Eagles No. 3 doubles team of Hayden Owens and Britton Beran defeatd Evan Archer and Parker Swanson 6-1, 6-0.

Sleepy Eye 12, GFW 6

FAIRFAX — Sleepy Eye defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 12-6 on Monday in a Tomahawk Division baseball game.

Landon Wendinger led Sleepy Eye (3-2, 3-2) at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs, while Damian Sanchez was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Cody Schultz and Jacob Fulmer each went 2 for 4, with Fulmer driving in a run. Carson Uecker also homered and drove in two for Sleepy Eye. Kaydon Klein got the win in five innings, allowing 10 hits and two walks for three earned runs while striking out six.

Layton Uecker-Hamre was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs to lead GFW (1-4, 0-4) at the plate, while Owen Swenson was 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI and Will Bastian was 2 for 3. Kaden Rieke was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs.

Madelia 12, JWP 1 (5 innings)

JANESVILLE — Madelia ran past Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 12-1 in five innings of a nonconference baseball game on Monday.

Evan Coil led Madelia (4-1) at the plate, going 2 for 3 with two doubles and three RBIs, while Tate Becker went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs. Zach Jacobs was 2 for 3 with an RBI also for Madelia, while Miah Garza was 2 for 3 and Noel Davila was 2 for 4.

Dalton Tatro earned the win for the Blackhawks in five innings, allowing five hits and a walk for one run while striking out six.

Madelia 10, AC/GE 4

ALDEN — Madelia defeated Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons 10-4 in five innings of a Valley Division softball game on Monday.

The game was called after five innings due to rain.

Janelle Callejas was 2 for 2 with a triple, two RBIs and a walk to lead Madelia (2-4, 1-1), while Veronica Ibeling was 2 for 3 with a triple, a double, two RBIs, a walk and three runs scored. Makayla Sorenson also was 2 for 3 with an RBI, while Lauryn Grev and Grace Tatro each went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Kellie Koberoski was 2 for 4 also for Madelia.

Payton Bruns got the win in the circle for Madelia in 2 1/3 innings of work, allowing two walks, no hits and no runs while striking out three.

JWP 5, Nicollet 1

JANESVILLE — Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton defeated Nicollet 5-1 on Monday in a nonconference softball game.

Zoei Rengstorf was 1 for 3 with a triple and a run scored for Nicollet, while Leah Bode was 1 for 3 with an RBI and Madison Kettner was 1 for 3. Bode took the loss in seven innings, allowing seven hits and a walk for three earned runs while striking out five.

Alden-Conger boys 188, Cathedral 247

Alden-Conger girls 235, Cathedral 256

ALDEN — Alden-Conger won both sides of a boys and girls golf match against New Ulm Cathedral on Monday at Oak View Golf Club, the boys winning 188-247 and the girls 235-256.

Alden-Conger’s Ryan Hintz was the boys medalist with a 43. Carter Wilson led the Cathedral boys with a 48 to finish third, while teammates Andrew Bentler shot a 62 for eighth, Cole Hoffman shot a 63 for ninth and Mac Turvold carded a 74 for 10th.

The girls medalists were Alden-Conger’s Kayla Halvorson and Cathedral’s Emma Hoffmann as they each shot a 56. Cathedral’s Elissa Ries shot a 64 for sixth, while Chloe Gilles shot a 67 for eighth and Peyton Weisbrich turned in a 69 for ninth.

Fairmont boys 102.5, St. Peter 61.5, New Ulm 22

St. Peter girls 84, Fairmont 79, New Ulm 24

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont boys and St. Peter girls won a Big South Conference prep track and field meet at Bob Bonk Track on Monday.

The New Ulm boys were led by Isaac Friese, who finished third in the 100 (12.01), while Hunter Heil took fourth in the 100 (12.1). New Ulm’s Brody Powers took third in the 400 (59.43), while Joshua Gordon took fourth in the 1,600 (5:31.16) and Nicholes Turbes took second in the 3,200 (12:52), LenDale Dunmars took fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (19.21), Benjamin Pearson took fifth in the discus (127-8), George Gag took fourth in the high jump (5-2) and Preston Holber took fifth in the high jump (5-2). Gordon also took fifth in the pole vault (8-6), while Joseph Wise took fourth in the long jump (17-4.75) and Dunmars took third in the triple jump (33-9).

For the New Ulm girls, Violet Beranek took fifth in the 100 (14.45), while Kaelyn Eikanger took fourth in the 200 (29.07) and third in the 400 (1:05.72). New Ulm’s Amelia Hinkle finished second in the 800 (2:54.28) and fourth in the 1,600 (6:17.05), while Megan Gauert took second in the 1,600 (6:10.84), Ellie Dake took third in the shot put (31-0.25) and third in the discus (84-1), Kiyla Kolden took fifth in the high jump (4-2), Sophia Berger took fourth in the pole vault (8-0) and fourth in the triple jump (30-8) and Isabelle Longtin took fifth in the long jump (13-5.75).
