Chargers boys, girls take 2nd at Maple River Invitational
MAPLE RIVER — The Minnesota Valley Lutheran/New Ulm Cathedral boys and girls track and field teams both took second at the Maple River Invitational on Tuesday evening.
The boys meet was won by Maple River (171), followed by MVL/NUC (155), Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton (115), United South Central/Alden-Conger (103.5), St. Clair/Immanuel Lutheran (78.5), New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva (46) and Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin (23).
The girls meet was won by St. Clair/Imm. Lutheran (165), followed by MVL/NUC (155), JWP (137), Maple River (94), NRHEG (88.5), USC/AC (32) and MCW/BO (27).
The MVL boys saw Josh Bentler finish first in the 100-meter dash (11.66), while Jaden Helget took third (12.09) in the event. Bentler also took first in the 200 (23.2), while Austin Vee took third in the 800 (2:16.9) and Jeremy Feistner took first in both the 1,600 (4:58.9) and 3,200 (10:49.4).
The MVL/NUC boys also saw Benjamin Rossow take third in the shot put (41-2) and third in the discus (119-7), while Jaden Helget took second in the pole vault (11-0) and Levi Johnson took third in the long jump (18-3.5).
For the MVL/NUC girls, Tiphany Dos Santos took first in the 100 (13.8), while Bailey Johnson took third in the 800 (2:49.4), Kamryn Davey took second in the 100-meter hurdles (16.93) and Claudia Weisensel took third in the 100 hurdles (17.08). Weisensel also took first in the 300 hurdles (50.2), while the MVL/NUC girls team of Johnson, Natalie Matzke, Emmy Mohr and Faith Peters took first in the 4×800 relay (11:33.91).
In the girls shot put, MVL/NUC’s Avery Hahn took third (31-11), while Jennarae Bates took second in the discus (92-8), Olivia Hammer took third in both the high jump (4-8) and triple jump (31-0) and Davey took first in the triple jump (33-0).
