2025 golf season tees off for area courses

Area golf courses have opened for the 2025 season of golf. Here is some information about some of the area’s courses.

NEW ULM

COUNTRY CLUB

NEW ULM — The New Ulm Country Club, established in 1929, offers visitors an 18-hole, par-71 scenic golfing experience to go with a pro shop, dining and instruction.

The course offers a variety of hole layouts and views of the Cottonwood River and Flandrau State Park, with golfers of all abilities getting the chance to have a fun experience.

Covering 6,200 yards, the course is home to many tournaments over the summer, such as this year’s 65th Invitational from June 13 to June 15. Last year’s Invitational winner was Springfield’s Johnny Larson, who won the championship stein for a record-extending seventh time.

Other tournaments include the MLC Tournament on June 9, the American Cancer Society Tournament on June 16, the New Ulm Eagles Boosters Tournament on June 23, the Club Championship from July 9 to July 13 and the Rolling Thunder Tournament on July 21, back for its third tournament. More tournaments to keep an eye on are the N.U.S.E. Hockey Tournament on July 18, the PGA Jr Sota Series on July 22, the B&L Mixer on July 27, the B&L Classic on July 28, the 3M Golf Tournament on August 16, the Schell’s Bottle Opener on August 24 and the Schell’s Bottle Cap Open on August 15.

Green fees are $23 for nine holes on weekdays and $25 for nine holes on weekends. The rates jump to $37 for 18 on weekdays and $39 for weekends. Junior nine holes are $10 and $20 for 18 holes.

Cart rentals are $18 per person for 18 holes or $11.50 for nine holes. Tournament carts cost $18 per person to rent, while reciprocal carts cost $18/$30 per person. A driving range is also available for use (range balls, bag of 50 costs $6) and there are clubs available to rent for $10. Pull carts are free for members and guests.

The NUCC also has free guest days, where guests of members get their green fees waived. This year they are April 27, May 18, June 1, July 20, August 17, Sept. 14, Oct. 5 and Nov. 2.

In addition, there is the Tuesday Night League, which is open for members and non-members of NUCC, and the Sunset League, open for women members and non-members only. The Tuesday Night League begins May 28 and concludes on August 19, while the Sunset League takes place on Thursday nights in June and July and begins June 19.

The New Ulm Country Club is also home to the Cottonwood Grill. The menu features an array food and beverage choices, such as street tacos, chicken tenders, loaded nachos, housemade reuben egg rolls, walleye bites, salads, sandwiches, burgers and pizza. Even those not golfing can call in and place take-out orders at 507-354-8896. A full menu is available online at golfnewulm.com. The Cottonwood Grill is open from 11 a.m. to sunset Monday through Sunday.

The club’s pro shop is also open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day of the week.

SLEEPY EYE

GOLF CLUB

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye Golf Club is a premier and well-maintained nine-hole course that is located just off of Highway 14 west of Sleepy Eye. The course is also home to the Prairie Greens Bar & Grill, which has over 70 menu items to choose from. The B&G is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week all year.

There are a share of challenges along the 9-hole, 2,971-yard course, but golfers should experience a fun time while taking in beautiful scenery along the way.

The current rates are $18 for nine holes and $28 for 18 holes during the week. A weekday second nine will cost $10. Weekend rates are $20 for nine holes and $30 for 18 holes, with a second nine adding $10 to the tab. Cart fees are $10 for nine holes per rider and $20 for 18 holes per rider.

Reciprocity fees are $15 per person for nine holes and $25 per person for 18 holes, which are required even if walking.

There are also Green Fee Specials, which includes allowing golfers the chance to play all day with a cart for $35 on Mondays. Another special gives students ages 16 and under the opportunity to golf nine holes for $9.

If golfing with a member of the course, it will cost $13 for nine holes during the week or $18 for 18 holes. During the weekend, the price jumps to $15 for nine holes and $20 for 18 holes. The second nine cost for both is $5.

The 9th annual Sleepy Eye Invitational takes place on July 19 this year. The St. Mary’s Alumni and Friends tournament is scheduled for September 6, and the SEU Football Tournament takes place on September 13.

MADELIA GOLF COURSE

MADELIA — While currently closed, the Madelia Golf Course will open for the 2025 season during Memorial Day weekend, providing golfers a fun and challenging nine-hole experience.

The par-36 course is located along the edges of the Watonwan River and Watona City Park in Madelia just north of the Watonwan County Road 9 exit off of Highway 60.

Green fees are $15 for the first round Monday through Thursday and $10 each additional round. The rates increase to $17 for the first round Friday through Sunday and holidays and each additional round is $10. Junior golf rates per round for those under 16 years of age is $10.

Punch cards offered include 10 punches for $115 and 20 punches for $230.

This year’s memberships include a family membership for $450, single membership for $350, senior membership (65+) for $300, junior membership (ages 19-24) for $250 and student membership (ages 18 and under) for $100. Pull cart costs per round is $5, with a trail fee per round of $5 and an annual trail fee costing $100.

Cart rentals for the first round cost $20, with an additional round costing another $10. A valid driver’s license is required to rent a motorized cart. Golf Carts are authorized for use only in the Golf Course area and are not allowed for use in other parts of the Park System.

Some special days during the week include Monday, which sees a per-round cost of $10 from 4 p.m. to close. Tuesdays is Senior Day (ages 50 and up), with a round of golf costing $13. Friday is Date Nite, allowing couples to get in a $20 round of golf, with a cart rental costing $10.

For your convenience, Madelia Golf Course asks those interested in scheduling a tee time to please call 507-642-3608 to schedule their tee time. They also ask that golfers arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their start time.

SPRINGFIELD

GOLF COURSE

SPRINGFIELD — Built in 1956, Springfield Golf Course is set along the Cottonwood River on the south edge of Springfield, Minnesota.

It offers a fair but challenging experience with narrow fairways and mid-sized greens that slope from back to front. This nine-hole course is open at 9 a.m. daily and also offers a full service bar, delicious food and a patio overlooking the 9th green.

Springfield Golf Course also offers a variety of tournaments, including the Springfield Invitational Tournament on June 9, the 17th Annual Springfield Chamber Tournament on June 25, the Tiger Pride Tournament on July 18, and the Labor Day Triathlon on Sept. 1. The Course will also hold the Ryder Cup on Sept. 13 and the CLUB tournament on Sept. 27. To check the full tournament and event list, visit springfieldgolfcourse.net/events. Green fees for the course are $20 for nine holes and $25 for 18 holes, with cart rentals available for an additional $20 for nine holes and $25 for 18 holes. Monday through Wednesday, there is unlimited golf for $35 with a cart.

Memberships are also available for a variety of prices, with student memberships for 18 years and younger costing $200, while young adult memberships for those who are 30 and under are $500. First year adult memberships for people who haven’t been a member for the past three seasons are $400, while single adult memberships are $700. Couple memberships are $800, while family memberships are $900 and includes children ages 22 and under. First year family memberships are $700. Range memberships are also available for $100.

WINTHROP

GOLF COURSE

WINTHROP — The Winthrop Golf Course, which opened for the season on April 10, features 2,912 yards of golf with a course rating of 34.1 and a slope rating of 114.

The nine-hole course, established in 1930, is for all skill levels and is located few miles south of Winthrop off of Highway 15.

The par-36 course opens daily at 8 a.m. Rates for nine holes are $15, with the addition of a cart costing another $10. The cost for 18 holes is $22 and adding a cart will cost an additional $15.

Punch cards are available for purchase also, costing $170 plus tax. The cards cover 14 9-hole plays.

The course also offers league play, with Seniors League playing Tuesday mornings, Women’s League playing Tuesday evenings, and Men’s League playing Thursday afternoons. The club asks that those interested in playing in any of those leagues contact them to sign up as soon as possible, with the leagues starting in May.

MAYFLOWER

GOLF COURSE

FAIRFAX — The Mayflower Golf Club, established in 1970, opened for its 55th season on April 11.

Set on 160 acres of land, the nine-hole, par-36 public golf course gives golfers in Fairfax and the surrounding area a convenient way to hit the links. The course features the winding Ford Ridgley Creek, mature tree lines and many wooded areas, and it is also complete with a clubhouse and bar & grill.

The Mayflower is open to the public seven days a week and is three miles south of Fairfax, at 46321 County Road 39, and 18 miles northwest of New Ulm. The club offers a nine-hole course, driving range, practice green, rentals for golf carts, golf boards, pull carts and golf clubs.

The 2025 rates during the weekdays are $17.23 for nine holes and $26.08 for 18 holes. On weekends, nine holes of golf costs $19.09 and 18 holes costs $28.40. Ages 9-14 have a reduced rate, $9.31 for nine holes and $14.20 for 18 holes, while ages 8 and under can golf for free. A 12-round, nine-hole punch card costs $186.26.

Tee times are from 8 a.m. to sunset from April to October.

First-year memberships are available and are $100 off and include discounted rates at five other area courses. Driving range memberships are also available for $150.

The clubhouse also has an event room and kitchen available for rent.

Some tournaments this year include the Franklin Classic on June 14, the GFW Athletic Boosters on June 21, Fritz’s on Main on June 28, the Fairfax Open on August 9, the Ryder Cup on Sept. 4 and the Morgan Spectacular on Sept. 13.

Also this summer is Glow Golf, which is open golf in the dark, where the tee boxes, flags, holes and green perimeters are lit at dusk. The Mayflower will have multi-color reusable LED balls available for purchase, or golfers can bring their own. Those interested are asked to bring a flashlight as golf carts do not have lights. The first Glow Golf event is May 16. Tee times for Night Golf are required and those interested can book a tee time online or by calling the clubhouse at 507-426-9964.

OAKDALE GOLF CLUB

BUFFALO LAKE — Oakdale Golf Club is an 18-hole public golf course located on Lake Allie in south central Minnesota. The club is open seven days a week and has been in operation since 1965.

It’s beautiful country setting, 12 miles southwest of Hutchinson, also features a full bar & grill with several food and beverage options. Oakdale prides itself on its great course conditions, friendly staff and fun and casual atmosphere.

Rates this season from Monday to Thursday are $25 for 18 holes walking or $19 for 9 holes walking. Nine holes with a cart costs $30, while 18 holes with a cart costs $41.

Friday to Sunday rates run as followed: 18 holes with a cart costs $49, 18 holes walking costs $31, nine holes with a cart costs $35 and nine holes walking costs $23. There is a senior special (ages 60+), where golfers can play 18 holes with a cart for $35 from Monday to Thursday. Ages 15 and under with a paid adult can golf for $12 anytime, nine holes or 18 walking, while ages 8 and under are free. Prices above do not include tax.

FARMER’S GOLF

& HEALTH CLUB

SANBORN — The Farmer’s Golf and Health Club is a nine-hole, par-36 golf course located at 698 West Central Street in Sanborn.

FGHC also features a driving range, practice area, bar, lounge, dining and banquet facilities.

Its weekday, weekend and holiday rates are $15 per person for nine holes and $20 per person for 18 holes. Adding a cart will cost $20 for nine holes and $25 for 18 holes.

Course hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.

It costs $515 for a single membership, $765 for a family membership, $715 for a couples membership, $350 for a new membership and out of area memberships costs $350. Student memberships for high school or college students up to age 23 costs $175. A second club membership is $350, while a range membership is $100. A cart shed rental is $230 and a cart lease is $525.

DACOTAH RIDGE

GOLF CLUB

MORTON — This 18-hole championship course has been named one of the best courses in Minnesota.

Rates for spring and fall are $63 with a cart Monday through Thursday and $70 with a cart Friday through Sunday for 18 holes. For nine holes, the rates are $34 with a cart Monday through Thursday and $40 from Friday through Sunday. Twilight/junior rates are $43. To replay 18 holes from Monday to Thursday with a cart costs $30, while Fridays to Sundays costs $40 with a cart.

Summer rates for 18 holes are $74 Monday through Thursday and $89 Friday through Sunday, both with a cart. For nine holes, it will cost $39 Monday through Thursday and $48 Friday through Sunday. Twilight/junior rates cost $49. To replay 18 holes from Monday to Thursday with a cart costs $40, while the rate from Friday to Sunday goes up to $45.

The Wabasha Creek Restaurant is also open Thursdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. It features a full menu where you can get a quick bite or a full meal.

NORTH LINKS

GOLF COURSE

NORTH MANKATO — North Links Golf Course, a prairie style course west and north of Mankato, is an 18-hole course.

It also serves as a wedding or other party venue and is located at 41553 520th Street, North Mankato.

Rates for individual rounds are $37-$47 for 18 holes, with a riding cart available for an additional $16. Early Bird rates for rounds starting before 8 a.m. are $32-$41, with carts available for $17. Twilight rounds after 3 p.m. are $23-$33, with carts available for $9.50, while nine holes can be played for $22-$26, with carts for $9.50. Weekday senior rates are $27.75 for 18 holes and $16.75 for nine holes, while juniors, ages 17 and younger, can play 18 holes for $15, with $16 to add a golf cart.

Passes are also available to purchase, with a 10-punch pass of 18 holes priced at $330 and nine holes for $200. Loyalty season passes and range passes are also for sale.
